The percentage of Americans who think crime is getting worse is at a 50-year high. Most Americans blame the rise in crime on Woke District Attorneys who do not enforce the law.

Woke ideologies in general are on the rise. Woke ideologies are Marxist-based and built on the concept of pitting oppressed people against their oppressors.

At the core of Marxism thought is the belief that family, the nation, private property, and beliefs in God must be abolished. Not enforcing laws facilitates this agenda.

Violence Reaches Epidemic Levels

On Father’s Day weekend, a rash of stabbings and slashings took place on New York City subways, with 5 stabbings, 1 of them fatal.

Minneapolis has become the most violent major city in the country on a per capita basis. Violent crime in Minneapolis is 30% higher than in Chicago, the next most violent city.

On May 21, an armed group of four carried out nine robberies in five Northwest Chicago neighborhoods in 1 hour, jumping out of their vehicle, pointing guns at victims, and demanding their belongings. On Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, 53 people were shot, 10 fatally.

Retailers Pulling Out of Crime-Infested Cities

The rampant crime and spiraling homeless problem in Seattle, Washington got so bad in January 2023, after 26 years, Nike permanently shut down its flagship store.

In March 2023, Walmart closed its last two stores in crime-plagued Portland, Oregon after a spike in losses related to theft.

Whole Foods closed its flagship San Francisco store after only a year because of deteriorating street conditions, drug use, and crime near the store.

Americans are Locked and Loaded

As Americans have watched cities looted and burned, with no regard for personal property rights, they have decided to take advantage of their right to bear arms for personal protection.

The number of Americans legally carrying handguns doubled from 3 million in 2015 to 6 million in 2019. The number carrying handguns in October 2022 skyrocketed to 16 million as concerns about violent crime soared.

Conclusion

A strong rule of law and individual liberty are the cornerstones of Western civilization.

History is full of examples, from Rome to the Ottoman Empire, which shows that a deteriorating rule of law is a leading indicator of a civilization in decline.
