SOFT ON CRIME POLITICIANS CAUSE RISE IN CRIME

“So, if guns kill people, I guess pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk and spoons make people fat!”

Introduction

Representative John Katko (R – NY) spent 20 years as a federal prosecutor fighting organized crime and putting violent criminals behind bars before being elected to Congress in 2015. Katko is unnerved by the highest spike in murder rates in decades, largely occurring in Democrat run cities like Portland, Chicago, New York and San Francisco.

Democrats have spent years defunding, disarming and demonizing law enforcement. Judges are releasing repeat offenders on little or no bond and putting dangerous criminals back on the streets.

Los Angeles

Soros-backed Los Angeles District Attorney (DA) George Gascon will not bring felony charges against the knife-wielding man who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl.

On May 3, Chappelle was attacked on stage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, The attacker rushed the stage armed with a replica handgun that had a knife attached to it.

Chappelle was not hurt and the attacker was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

DA George Gascons office later issued a statement, “After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occured, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct. The DA’s office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes.”

Sacramento

On April 10, six people were filled in downtown Sacramento in a shooting spree.

One of the gunmen had previously been arrested in 2018 for domestic violence and assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison. In accordance with Governor Gavin Newsom’s new policy of reducing the number of inmates in prison, this individual was released without parole supervision 2 months before he participated in the killing spree in Sacramento.

Newsom put the blame on guns tweeting, “We cannot continue to let gun violence to the new normal.”

George Soros contributed $1 million to Newsom’s successfull fight in 2021 to avoid being recalled.

Harris County, Texas

Felons released on bond in Harris County, Texas have collectively killed 156 people since 2018.

One of the victims was a grandmother who, in 2020, was stabbed in a Walgreens parking lot by a felon who had previously been arrested 67 times and was out on “personal recognizance” when he killed the grandmother.

San Francisco

In San Francisco, with California laws changed to make all thefts below $950 a midemeanor rather than a felony, shoplifting has evolved into systematic looting.

Many San Francisco residents have left the city and 40 percent of those still there say they intend to move within the next few years.

Conclusion

The media routinely labels crime upticks as a “gun violence” epidemic. This shifts the accountability from the criminal who committed the violent crimes to the tool they used.

Instead of proposing stricter gun control measures, liberals should be rethinking their plan to let violent criminals roam free.
