-Edward Murrow
Introduction
The Deep State comprises unelected officials who cannot be fired, survive changing administrations and run the country.
The most feared portions of the Deep State are the intelligence agencies: the CIA and the FBI.
CIA TAKES OUT JOHN KENNEDY
The CIA had three reasons to get rid of Kennedy:
(1) The CIA felt that Kennedy gave away Cuba in the Bay of PIgs by not providing air support. Without air support the rebels had no chance of overthrowing Castro and were massacred. This angered the CIA because they had put a lot to time and effort into this operation.
(2) The CIA feared that Kennedy would not escalate American involvement in Vietnam and let Vietnam also fall to communism.
(3) Kennedy fired the Director of the CIA, Allen Dulles, after the Bay of Pigs disaster. It was feared that Kennedy would dismantle the CIA for what he considered bad information on how to handle the overthrow of Castrol
FBI and CIA Engineer Watergate
The Watergate scandal would have been limited to lower-level Nixon staff if it had not been for constant leaks from then Deputy Director of the FBI Mark Felt. Felt leaked information to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward who shared the information with fellow reporter Carl Bernstein. Felt was the secret source of information in 1972, dubbed Deep Throat, that kept the story alive, eventually forcing the resignation of Nixon in 1974.
Conclusion
The CIA and FBI are almost completely unaccountable to anyone and, it is increasingly obvious, deeply corrupt and politicized.
