Introduction

The word “woke” was coined in 2014 by Black Lives Matter to protest police brutality. The word now includes several progressive Marxist ideologies that divide society into oppressors and the oppressed.

The rise of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion [DEI] is a phenomenon that falls into this class of woke ideology. The oppressed demand representation in the society that oppresses them.

Equity is Marxism Rebranded

Marxism has never worked as evidenced by the collapse of the Soviet Union, the deplorable human rights abuses in China, and the utter disintegration of Venezuela’s economy.

The solution to this failure of Marxism is to invent a new label that will appeal to the masses.

Enter the latest rebranding of Marxism: Equity. Many are inclined to embrace “Equity” because it sounds good. It sounds a lot like “Equality.”

If the equality czars get their way, we will have doctors, lawyers, and other professionals whose main qualifications are not ability but rather membership in an “oppressed” group.

The leftist academic of the 1930s, Max Horkheimer, a locked-and-loaded Marxist, predicted a century ago, “The revolution won’t happen with guns but incrementally as we gradually infiltrate educational institutions and political offices.”

Lay Off of DEI Workers

DEI positions have been among the hardest hit at Big Tech companies. Companies have come to understand that DEI positions do not produce anything of value.

DEI Infested Silicon Valley Bank [SVB]

SVB collapsed in March 2023 after disclosing a $1.8 billion loss.

One critic of the bank noted that the Board of Directors was filled with “diversity” hires who were there because they had woke credentials.

In the years before its collapse, SVB donated over $73 million to Black Lives Matter-related social justice groups.

DEI Programs Banned at State Universities

In May 2023, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation that bans state funding for DEI programs in the state’s universities.

The Texas legislature also passed a law banning DEI programs at state universities. The bill has been sent to Governor Greg Abbott for approval.

Americans Do Not Want DEI Programs

In an I&I/TIPP Poll conducted in late March 2023, 89% supported the traditional workplace practices of meritocracy and ability as opposed to gender and race for determining position in a company.

Conclusion

Medical school students, whose learning should be focused on the healing arts, are now required to study white supremacy, structural racism, and the sin of being white.

Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, a former University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine professor says the woke revolution that erupted in the spring of 2020 will tangibly reduce the quality of medical care.

The DEI movement, like other woke ideologies, will destroy itself because it is not grounded in truth. A sign that people are seeing flaws in DEI is mainstream comedians are making jokes about it.
