Introduction
John Ratcliffe, the former Director of National Intelligence, said in 2020 “China poses the greatest threat to America today and the greatest threat to democracy and freedom worldwide since World War II. The intelligence is clear. Beijing intends to dominate the U.S. and the rest of the planet.”
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Infiltrates American Schools
Confucius Institutes, founded in 2004, are China-funded “cultural centers” that operate on college campuses.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R – TN) warned “For years, the CCP has been using Confucius Institutes as a Trojan horse to push their propaganda and revisionist history in American universities.”
“No foreign government should have the ability to influence American education – especially a rogue regime that commits egregious human rights violations.”
Parents Defending Education (PDE), an organization dedicated to fighting indoctrination in the classroom, issued a report titled “Little Red Classrooms.” In July 2023 they sent the report to state Governors and key lawmakers in Washington D.C.
The CCP fully funds and manages the Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms supplying the teachers and teaching materials. They are both propaganda machines disguised as education centers.
As of 2020, there were about 1,000 Confucius Institutions in dozens of countries including more than 100 on American college campuses. There are about 140 Confucius Classrooms in 143 schools across 34 states.
Universities Corrupted by CCP Funding
Some of our greatest educational institutions have been corrupted by CCP money. There are no laws requiring the publication of foreign gifts to universities.
The CCP has donated about $67 million to the University of Pennsylvania. Their Penn-Biden Center is where several classified documents were found.
While Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo was blocked from speaking at MIT because university officials thought it would offend the Chinese.
Conclusion
Chad Wolf, then Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, warned in 2020 that “the CCP views the U.S. as a political and ideological threat and seeks to destroy the U.S. Our struggle with the CCP is nothing short of a civilizational conflict.”
To allow the CCP into American classrooms to brainwash American children is self-destructive.
